This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course Durations

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 8 Hours
Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 1 Hour 30 Mins

An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

Physical capability to be able to:

  • meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills including removing an electric shock victim from a simulated live electrical situation
  • Work at heights
  • Demonstrate safe manual handling techniques
  • Identify hazards and conduct risk assessments

Literacy and numeracy skills to complete an Incident Report form and risk assessments

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

This certificate does not require renewal

Performance tasks - The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:

Respond to two (2) simulated electrical work at height scenarios as selected by your Assessor, including:

  • Locate and apply relevant work, health and safety (OHS/WHS) legislation, regulations, codes of practice, policies and procedures to ensure the work activity is compliant 
  • Consult with employer (Assessor) and other employees (students) to ensure implemented control measures are reviewed and new hazards identified
  • Confirm (safe) isolation of an electrical supply and isolation of potential electrical and non-electrical hazards has been completed by an authorised person
  • Select and use personal protective equipment (PPE) for the electrical industry and working at heights in line with OHS/WHS guidelines 
  • Select the most appropriate ladder for the work activity and perform a safety check
  • Perform work at heights
  • Apply correct manual handling techniques
  • Demonstrate safe methods of removing an electric shock victim from a live electrical situation

Documentation – The student must compete all documentation according to the required standard:

  • Risk Assessment
  • Incident Report Form

Theory assessment - A written exam consisting of multiple choice and short answer questions to be completed at the end of the training session. Students are able to refer to their Learners resource material.
